After amendments that included specific felonies whereby immigration officials would be allowed to take custody of convicted illegals who have served their prison term, Governor Brown announced that he will be signing the Sanctuary State Bill, SB 54, into law.

A letter to US Attorney General Jeff Sessions, calling for the US Department of Justice to take legal action against SB 54, was available for signature. During the Rally a phone call was made to the US Department of Justice comment line requesting that Attorney General Sessions to take immediate action, and a phone call was made to Governor Brown's office to VETO SB 54.

No More DACA Rally Pup!

After the Sanctuary State Bill passed out of the Assembly on 9/16/17, the Sanctuary State Rally was organized on 9/17/17 and then posted as an official event on Facebook. Because of the Facebook posting, angry counter protesters showed up and shouted hateful slurs and played bullhorn sirens. Their rage was drowned out, though, by those opposing the Sanctuary State bill as there were several participants even louder than the counter protesters!

Officers arrived on scene. It was stated that the bullhorns were violating noise ordinances and disruptive. By the time the officers had arrived and presented the information to the rally line, it was time for the rally to end.
