There is no Condemnation/Debt Because He is Giving Grace

"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." (Romans 8:1, NIV)

There is no condemnation whatsoever.

 Why?

Not because God was arbitrary in His niceness, but because someone else was condemned for us:

"For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:" (Romans 8: 3)

Everything which merits punishment, whether in our thoughts or our deeds, whether in our past or our present, or even in our future, Jesus Christ has taken all the holy wrath of God, that we need never fear being punished, because Jesus was punished for us:

"3He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
8He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken." (Isaiah 53: 3-8)

Because Jesus became sin for us, we receive His righteousness (2 Corinthians 5: 21), God can faithfully as well as righteousnessly forgive our sins (1 John 1: 9) and Jesus remains our Mercy Seat, or propitiation forever (1 Timothy 6: 16; Hebrews 7: 16; 1 John 2: 2)

There is no more condemnation in Christ, for in Christ we keep on receiving His gifts of righteousness and grace (Romans 5: 17)

Even when you feel bad, even when you do wrong, think wrong -- all of it is covered, and nothing can separate you from God the Father -- for you are in Christ!
