No matter who much money the City Attorney poured into his bid for the District Attorney's Office, he could not escape the promise that he had made to voters.
If he ran for another position while serving as City Attorney, Trutanich promised to publish full-page ads with "I AM A LIAR" blazoned for all read.
I am convinced that if he had been honest with keeping his promise, he probably would have won the one of the top two spots for the District Attorney run-off.
Most LA voters are used to crooked and ambitious politicians - but a little honesty would have gone a long way to softening voters' opposition to his ascendancy.
