Normally, I pay little attention to the blurbed in the margins of Herald publications, but José Naroksy's indictment of the horrors of war caught my attention.
Our armed men and women have fought bravely for this country.
Yet to see so many soldiers on the borders of other nations, defending people who neither warmly welcome or wish for our extended presence, one would gather that our troops are actually allied and assigned with other countries altogether.
How come we have more troops policing the borders between Afghanistan and Pakistan than the borders south of us from the Rio Grande to San Diego? The men and women of the armed forces swore and oath to defend the United States and our Constitution from aggressors, both foreign and domestic.
Currently, it would appear that the domestic terrors of entitlement, deficits, and moral decay are doing more damage than hostile yet marginal foreign actors in the Middle East.
Let us recognize our veterans and give them the due home-coming that they deserve. Bring our troops home. Let us not tolerate one more American citizen succumbing to frustrated military ventures and becoming another wounded soldier for causes undefined, undeclared, and undeserved.
