The Fallacy of Ethnic Christianity

The little “P” pastor in a church does not set a man free. The Good Shepherd gave His life for the sheep. Not just on the Cross, but also through the Holy Spirit living in us, Christ our Good Shepherd leads us on the paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake. We are not called to trust our own wits, but to live by the peace of God, which reigns in our hearts. We are not called to look for some preacher to reach out and pull us through all of our troubles. We reach out in faith in God through the faith of the Son of God.

Many ethnic-based churches have confused righteousness and civil rights.  They see  certain skin color, and therefore they see relationship, kinship, and community. Yet in Christ, there is no Jew nor Greek, no slave nor free. We are more than the color of skin, and certainly far more than the content of our character.  Who we are depends on our oneness with Christ Jesus. Our community is His body, not little churches, no matter how large their congregation – even a megachurch is still minimal compared to the Body of Christ.

People are still bellowing about having to sit in the back of the bus. Do they not know that they are seated in high places in Christ, above all principality and power? Who cares how much we are persecuted? As He is, so are we in this world. He overcame death, hell, and the grave  --  he scorned the shame and received His mission to reconcile fallen man to His Heavenly Father. Even economists have documented how individuals persecuted as minorities still thrive in spite of official discrimination.

Instead of Rosa Parks, we need to learn about the Rose of Sharon, who took the thorns on his head that we would no longer struggle and bleed in thorny thicket of cares and concerns.

Maxine Waters is draining people of their life and hope. Only the Living Water can slake the eternal thirst of man for God.

Martin Luther King Jr. is no king,  and he certainly is not the King of Kings. His reign is forever, and his majesty is for us who are willing to receive the adoption of Sons by the Power of the Holy Spirit.

Don’t Root for Jesse Jackson – Be rooted in the Root of Jesse.

Forget about Malcolm X – Focus on the Cross, the X that marked the spot of your redemption and promotion in God the Father.

Instead of seeking a handout from Uncle Sam, rest in the provision of the Great I AM.

Is anyone still chanting “We shall overcome?” In Christ, we are more than overcomers!

We need to stop squawking about our rights – Let us rejoice in the righteousness that we have, that we are in Christ!
