Letter to the Harrisburg Patriot-News

Senator Rick Santorum faithfully represented the people of Keystone State. However, his statist piety, including bringing home the bacon and saving government jobs, will not save this nation’s rump or restore the nation’s stagnant economy.
Santorum’s past political pandering to the Quaker state makes me quake. A patron saint of George W. Bush’s Big Government bombast, the former senator supported increasing the size of government in order to legislate morality, and has now launched crusades against pornography, the role of women in the military, and the place of private devotion in public service.
Putting the "Passion" in "Compassionate Conservative", Santorum voted for the minimum wage, Amtrak subsidies, unaffordable Medicare enhancements, and No Child Left Behind, which affects everyone but his own children. His sympathies mean more suffering for a country whose government is bleeding out billions every day while failing to staunch record deficits.
Brotherly love is a welcome thing in private or at the local level, but not with other people’s money.

For the GOP Presidential campaign, a brokered convention with another presidential candidate -- Like Mitch Daniels or Scott Walker -- would be far better than candidates like Rick Santorum, who do not inspire leadership, confidence, or trust.
