"Beware of isolation; beware of the idea that you have to develop a holy life alone. It is impossible to develop a holy life alone; you will develop into an oddity and a peculiarism, into something utterly unlike what God wants you to be. The only way to develop spiritually is to go into the society of God’s own children, and you will soon find how God alters your set. God does not contradict our social instincts; He alters them." We cannot be isolated. A believer is never alone.
As long as Father and Son live in us through the Power of the Holy Spirit, it is impossible for us to be alone.
The problem, therefore, is not the truth of the matter, but our perception.
We must invoke as often as is necessary the same prayer that Paul prayed for the Ephesians:
"That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
"The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints" (Ephesians 1: 17-18)
Rather than demanding a greater portion of the Holy Spirit, let us seek out greater awareness of His power in our lives! Let us pray that the Lord will open our spiritual senses to discern the great work that the Holy Trinity is doing in our lives, and that He wants us to do in partnership with Him by faith.
No, we are not alone, nor ever could be. Instead, our minds drift, our senses seek out the finite in our world, and we get caught up in the fears that change at our lives.
