Reflections on "My Utmost" Part IV

"If the Son shall make you free . ." Do not substitute ‘Saviour’ for ‘Son.’ The Saviour sets us free from sin; this is the freedom of being set free by the Son. It is what Paul means in Gal. 2:20 – "I have been crucified with Christ," his natural individuality has been broken and his personality united with his Lord, not merged but united. "Ye shall be free indeed," free in essence, free from the inside. We will insist on energy, instead of being energized into identification with Jesus."

This declaration is wonderful. It is amazing how many people miss the full impact of the blessed promises which Chambers presents in this paragraph. His style may be a stumbling block to some, but the truth of this message still rings out for all who are willing to hear it.

As we receive a growing and glowing revelation of who Jesus is, we receive a growing and effective release of His power through our lives, blessing us in all things.

How do I get "emancipated" from wandering thoughts into personality"? By the Holy Spirit, who manifests Christ in us:

"If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." (John 8:36)

"To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:" (Colossians 1:27)

In the fullest sense, Christ lights up our lives, for He is the Light of the World! (cf John 8:12) This light illuminates us from the inside out, blessing us and radiating His glory for all the world to witness.
