Where else do we read "cast out" ἐκβάλλω in the New Testament?
Jesus was summoned by the rule of the synagogue, seeking Jesus to heal his sick daughter. When Jesus arrived at the ruler's home, his daughter was already dead, and those in the home has already begun mourning:
Jesus replied:
"He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.
"But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.
"And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land." (Matthew 9:24-26)
Yes, in the natural, the little girl was dead, but we walk by faith, and not by sight (cf 2 Corinthians 5:7) Jesus would not be dissuaded by the people's unbelief, nor would he tolerate it.
When Perfect Love is present to work a miracle, scornful unbelief has no place.
Well did the distraught father in Mark's Gospel cry out:
"And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief." (Mark 9:24)
Unbelief kills! Unbelief hinders the Finished Work of Christ in our lives!
"And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
"And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching." (Mark 6:5-6)
In the presence of Perfect Love, unbelief has no place, and therefore must be cast out, along with all fear and shame!
